Staff Only Day - New Curriculum MOE Maths Professional development
The Ministry of Education is providing all schools in New Zealand with two days of professional development in 2025 to support the implementation of the new literacy and maths curriculum. We have been assigned Friday March 14th as our date for the maths professional development. School will be closed on this date, please mark your calendars and plan accordingly.

Mihi Whakatau
Our first mihi whakatau is on Tuesday 4th February at 9.15am in our Outdoor Learning Space. This special ceremony, which all whānau are invited to attend, is where we welcome new tamariki, whānau and staff to HSS.
First day of Term 1
Welcome back everyone! We are looking forward to seeing you all again.
School starts for the year at 9 am on Tuesday, 4th of February. The school will be closed on both Thursday, 6th of February (Waitangi Day) and Friday, 7th of February. This is to allow whānau a longer weekend and limits the disruption to the start of the year. Business as usual will resume on Monday, 10th of February. Our first senior camp will head off to Mistletoe Bay on that day.
Whānau Conferences
We are holding our Term 1 whānau conferences before tamariki return to their classrooms. These will take place on Thursday 30th January between 10:00am – 7:00pm.
These 15-minute sessions are a wonderful opportunity to connect with your tamariki’s kaiako, reflect on the year ahead, and discuss any hopes, concerns, or aspirations for the school year. We encourage tamariki to attend with whānau.
Please feel free to bring your child’s stationery to the conference.
